    Default Made me laugh!

My alexandrine has a large vocabulary and enjoys answering 'do you'? to many questions I may ask that can be answered with that response. As most of us know, birds can get 'stuck' in a 'repeating' type mode and sometimes seem to never move to another word or phrase. One day when the caique was stuck in an irritating whistle rut, I casually asked, 'Beaker, do you want a big fat spanking'? (It's something I've always said as a joking comment to what they might be doing at the time.)
Without any hesitation, the alexandrine replied, 'DO YOU'?

I had to sit down it made me laugh so hard. Of course the whistling didn't stop, but it created a great distraction for me!

Thanks for sharing Andrea....I love it! I had a funny moment the other night as well. I was being compulsive about completing a task and not giving my usual amount of attention to the flock and the dog. Pico, my African Grey, apparently disgusted after failing to get the requisite amount of attention from me walked across the room and up to the dog and said "Well, do you want some company?" It was the first time I ever heard him say that phrase.

That's very funny Deb! lol I think they 'store' certain words or phrases in their little heads and surprise us when we need a lift. They also seem to have a way of getting our attention at the same time.
