I'd like to hear about your flock.
You can read a little about my flock in the introductory sticky post to this thread......I've got 8 birds plus one I'm baby sitting for the middle school until the end of summer....never a dull moment in my house!

I have a Umbrella Cockatoo, 8 Conures, and a Cockatiel. My Umbrella was my first bird, my baby girl. I fostered for a local bird org and fostered a Conure. Fell in love with Conures. Adopted 8 of my fosters. Two are really aggressive, and did not want them to go from home to home or get hurt. Most of them were not used to being handled and did not play with toys. I can handled all but the two and everyone plays with toys, which I make for them. I do use postitive reinforcement and have went to Barbara H. seminar and have all her videos. Also have attented a seminar with Susan F. My little green monster :-) is still a work in progress and my older Nansun who is 19 years old, you have to step back nad think what is important. Do I really need to be able to cuddle him, does he need or want this? He comes out of his cage with everyone else and we have a understanding. When I ask him to go inside, he goes inside his cage. And my little sweetheart, my Cockatiel is a joy. :-)
I was glad to hear your story and that you've given a home to so many fosters. Congratulations on making so much progress with them. Barbara and Susan are great resources and both put on great seminars. I appreciate your recognition of the difference between your bird's needs for relationship versus your own desire to cuddle. I think too many bird owners try to force a relationship with their birds rather than take the time to build trust. Kudos to you!
