Hello From Fort Worth!

I had been meaning to sign up for the new forum for weeks now and then I got this month's newsletter and actually did it! I love the newsletter so this forum is going to be like thick layer of icing over that cake

My name is Holly. I live in Fort Worth,TX with my fiancee Robbie, our dog Hali, two cats Ella & Star and our four birds, two budgies Tucker & Milo and two cockatiels Kara and Zoey.
I've had birds for 10 years now and have been immersing myself in all things parrot for most of those 10 years. I consider myself a hobbyist student of ABA and Positive Reinforcement and have been reading everything I can about enrichment and doing my best to provide that enrichment to my birds.

In the past I've been active in bird clubs and volunteered as I could with Rescues. I'm also a member of the Good Bird Inc and Phoenix Landing Yahoo groups and have recently just started volunteering for a rescue here in Texas, Wings Of Love Bird Haven. (we may even be fostering a little caique for them soon!) I've also been active on a few other parrot forums.

I've always been an animal person and when I discovered the joy that is parrots I wished I had done sooner in my youth. As a day job I am a graphic designer. I've been an in house designer for a few company's in the last 10 years. But, I've just officially gone freelance and am working for myself now. Its exciting and nerve racking all at the same time! But the freedom of creating my own schedule is wonderful!

I'm really looking forward to cruising through existing posts here and hopefully joining in the conversation and adding to the forum!

Hi Holly...I'm very glad you joined the forum. I met DeAnn and Meghan from Wings of Love earlier this year when they were visiting The Gabriel Foundation (I was giving a toy making seminar that weekend). Please say hi for me, they are great gals! Please do jump right on in and share some of your experiences and enrichment ideas. As a graphic designer have you ever done any bird related projects? Best of luck to you in the freelance world, I hope it affords you both success and freedom.

Hiya Deb! Thanks for the warm welcoming! I'll be sure to tell De you said hello, I should be seeing her tomorrow actually.

As far as bird related projects, I designed my bird club's logo a few years ago and I have now taken them on as a client to do their quarterly newsletter. I'm hoping to find projects related more to animal organization particularly parrots. So feel free to pass along any info you might hear about.
