In the wild, to protect against predators, birds sleep in areas that offer enhanced security.  They often choose locations high up in the dense tree canopies where they are out of the reach of many predators and are warned of the approach of others by vibrations.   Have you noticed that your bird tends to use the highest perch in his cage for sleeping?

Many parrots also enjoy an afternoon nap and a bit of quiet time away from our typical household hustle bustle.   Utilizing cage covers, tents or a perch surrounded by lots of toys can provide a parrot with opportunities to hideaway and feel more secure when they want to sleep.
